The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager HSEQ, this is a senior technical role responsible for driving safety performance, ensuring compliance with company and client standards, and providing practical health and safety leadership across multiple underground mining operations.

This position is ideally suited to a highly experienced underground mining safety professional who thrives in complex, multicultural environments and enjoys influencing safety outcomes at both strategic and operational levels.

Based in either Perth or Brisbane, you will spend approximately two weeks per month travelling internationally to support project teams, conduct technical reviews, mentor site-based personnel and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert OHS advice and technical guidance to international project teams.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Redpath's global HSE management systems.
  • Conduct audits, inspections and safety performance reviews across multiple operations.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor compliance with local legislation, client requirements and Redpath standards.
  • Develop and review risk assessments, critical controls and operational safety procedures.
  • Mentor and coach site leadership teams to strengthen safety culture and capability.
  • Analyse safety performance data and identify opportunities for proactive risk reduction.
  • Support mobilisation activities, workforce onboarding and contractor management processes.
  • Collaborate with senior operational leaders to embed best-practice safety initiatives across international projects.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive experience within underground mining operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior OHS, HSE or Safety Advisor position.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, incident investigation and safety management systems.
  • Experience working across multiple sites and geographically dispersed operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within diverse multicultural environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current ability to undertake regular international travel.

Highly Regarded

  • Previous expatriate (expat) experience in remote or international mining environments.
  • Experience working in Africa, Southeast Asia and/or Central Asia.
  • ICAM, TapRooT or equivalent incident investigation training.
  • Internal or Lead Auditor qualifications.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.
